    are you a women???
most of the other videos you probably watched were ppl who enjoy a darker beer. i like them all, mostly. anyways, its because he used the coopers draught and used only regular sugar and no brown sugar. i use brown sugar, honey, and reg. sugar to get an all around meld of flavors. do waht you will though and good luck my hairless friend :)

Thank you Craig the series was easy to follow and understand. Good options for those that want to give it a try without having to buy all kinds of expensive equipment. I look forward to trying this for the first time.

  7. Well Craig… I …
Well Craig… I have watched at least 30 videos on brewing your own beer on you tube and others. Most turn out very dark dark beers like Guinness, which i hate. I have been looking for a video of a regular champagne colored beer no darker Than Budwiser American Ale, which is good, but not in large consumption. Thank you so much for your videos, i am going to use each and every step to make my first batch of beeeeeeer!!!!!

Sometimes I get just a little bit in my first bottle, but it just settles out.

I see the tap on your brew bucket is near the bottom of the brew bucket! do u get some sediment in your bottles when u bottle your brew? or is that not a problem – cheers

  12. I’m glad you shed …
I’m glad you shed light on this. I sometimes get alot of foam and sometimes hardly any bottling from batch to batch. Sometimes foaming is so little that I can fill the bottles first time without having to go back to top up. Anyway I found no difference in final quality between batches that foam alot on bottling and those that don’t. The only difference is that I can bottle more quickly with less foamy batches.
    CHEERS!

  13. I think it is the …
I think it is the sugar, but I don’t always get it. I think it has to do with C02 trapped in the beer inside the fermenter, and when it mixes with the sugar, you get the foam. I think when you add salt or sugar to a carbonated drink, it displaces the trapped C02. I have been “degassing” my brew before bottling by pressing on the lid the day before I bottle. You use the drops, so it doesn’t mix with the beer right away, therefore, no foam. I’d go get the filler hose and tube like I have.

    great clips by the way.

  15. Craig, The foam you …
Craig, The foam you had when bottling, I have never had that. I am wondering if it is the sugar? (I use carbonation drops) or is it the hose you use? (I bottle at the barrel which painfully takes a lot longer than yours did to bottle). If it is the sugar, I will go out and get myself a length of hose asap.

That looks fun. Too bad I don’t like beer.

  17. Absolutely do not …
Absolutely do not reuse twist caps from bought beer. They have already been formed to the bottle and won’t seal properly on another bottle. Also, don’t use glass beer bottles with a twist off mouth. No cap will seal properly around the threads.

    hi Craigge

First of all , i wanna tell you that your tutorial video is quite simple and amazing compare to the other ones out there.

My question is related to the twist cap: i’ve recycle my own twist cap from previous beer i bought and i would like to know if ((twist caps))is a good way to go or i might lose a couple of beer in the making….

Is the relative sealing quality with thread caps are low?

    Also if you wash …
Also if you wash glass bottles in hot water, the glass retains some heat which evaporates the water, and they dry so much quicker. We’re using glass bottles because we had them lying around, and a bag of bottle caps…and a bottle capper! :P

Thanks 4 tha tips craig. nice job mate!

  21. I think you should …
I think you should be fine. I use sugar because I only use malt extract. You used grains as well, so you don’t need as much sugar, or any at all. If however it is week, you know to add more malt extract, or a couple cups of corn sugar. Your beer might be a little on the light side, but it will still taste great, and you can adjust on your next batch.

  22. Craig tube, I …
Craig tube, I actually just got done brewing my first ever batch of wort, its sitting in a 2nd bathroom. I added no sugar, I followed the “Good Eats” recepie, am i looking at a low alcohol brew, or is it gonna be O.K., any response is good, this is my first time, correct the virgin!

  23. It’s basically the …
It’s basically the same process, although check the instructions. There may be a different way of handling the yeast.

  24. Craig,
    Have you …

    Craig,
Have you tried brewing darker beers or do you stick with the lighter ones? Just wondering if there was a difference in procedure. I am more of a dark beer fan myself. Thanks.

  25. Thanks for taking …
Thanks for taking the time to post these videos Craig. I’m just beginning my home brewing process and this has been a big help. Don’t listen to the guys that are just trying to get a rise out of you. I doubt they are even of legal age to drink a beer. And if they are…they sure aren’t acting like it.
