Home-brewers, what's the weirdest brew you've ever concocted?

And why.
If it was worth the while, post the receipe.
Pumpkin beer

Would light ruin my home brew in a plastic fermenter?

My home brew is sitting in my room (constant temperature) in a white, plastic fermenter. Would having my ceiling light on "skunk" the beer like it would with a glass or clear fermenter?
You have two things going for you. First, the milky plastic doesn't pass much light. Second, your ceiling light isn't all that bright. [...]

Does brewing beer at home make the entire house smell?

I want to start brewing beer and my girlfriend is objecting saying that it will make the house smell bad during the fermentation process. Is this true or can I tell her to 'stick it up her nose'
I have brewed many beers, and the only time it can smell is during the initial boiling [...]

Can I use twist-top long neck bottles for my home brew beer ?

I used a batch with crown seals and the beer is flat. I'd been told the glass is quite thin so I was quite careful….Maybe i should have hit them a lot harder !
You can't get a good enough seal with those twist top caps.
You have to use new caps and non-twist top bottles.

I need recommendations for the most helpful book in teaching how to brew beer at home.?

I need the best Beer Brewing book in print.
The Complete Joy of Homebrewing, by Charlie Papazian, is widely accepted as the best beginner's book for home brewing (and even for non-beginners!). Papazian is the founder of the American Homebrewers Assocation, and is probably the biggest name in homebrewing in the world.
The second best [...]

is it possible to make a sweet-tasting beer?

I'm interested in making my own beer, but what I'd like to know is it possible to make a sweet-tasting beer if you add extra sugar to the mixture while keeping the time for fermentation the same? If not, what's another way to sweeten the taste of beer?
I'm not real knowledgable about making beer, but [...]

What is a good root beer recipe that doesn't use root beer extract or sassafras?

I've never been really impressed with any of the root beer extracts, so I would like to make root beer from scratch. Any suggestions?
I have never done this, but I have made beer and this guy really knows what he's talking about.

Why Are Beer Cans Cheaper Than Bottles?

You would think that making a metal can would cost more than making a glass bottle. Is it really more expensive to make bottles or it is a supply/demand thing?
Actually, all of these answers are sort of wrong.
First off, if you look in the beer cooler at your local beer store, cans and bottles of [...]

Beer making: Does anyone know how hard it is to make a Hefeweizen?

I am also looking for a Hefeweizen to make that isn't too sweet. Also, would a simple wit achieve this?
As other posters noted, this is absolutely the easiest homebrew to make! One of the attributes that makes this beer so easy is that the extract brewer can compete very well with an all [...]
